Group Rule #4

We limit AI, Photoshopped & Edited Images/Video

The method of creation is not important, the misperception is. In discussions of illusions, distinctions between real and fake become less relevant. Illusions should emphasize misperceptions over just being cool or interesting. Although we accept some AI or "Photoshopped" image there is a higher bar for acceptance due to its prevalence and often poorly done images. Composite images without misperceptions won't be accepted. Wow us - occasionally we make a "Moderator's Choice" exception.

FAKE! Not an Illusion some like to say

Illusions are not magic that are tainted by the method in which they created. They can be naturally occurring, sculpted, painted, drawn, photographed, digitally created or even created with AI. The creation method doesn’t matter. If you don’t like Photoshopped or AI images that’s a valid opinion, but it doesn’t mean everyone shares it or that it isn’t a valid illusion.

Now that doesn’t mean that all these types of images are all equally interesting, and what people find interesting can vary – a lot.

We set a higher bar for these types of images. Maybe it’s something we’ve never seen before, or it shows some interesting illusory-related concept. There has to be some reason for us to make an exception. This sort of decisions is a judgement call and we all have to go by our own opinions when we make those types of choices, if you want to be able to make some of those decisions talk to us about moderating.

We decline most AI images, and obviously edited images. We still may consider edited images as illusory art.

Note: Moderators are unpaid volunteers, we do this in our spare time and are not going to do a deep-dive on each and every image that is submitted. We are human and will miss some.
